The Veil is an an album of atmospheric ambience and textures, recorded and produced in March 2021.

The entirety of The Veil was recorded using a Lyra-8 alongside a series of effects. I've always been a fan of how you're never quite sure what's going to emerge from the Lyra-8 when you start exploring it - I've primarily used it for ambient tracks, chaotic atmospheres, and percussive mangling so far. It just so happened that, during the recording of these tracks, I tapped into a particularly celestial feel which really resonated with me at the time. After a few headphone sessions of tuning, recording, more tuning, and general tweaking (and some more tuning), I ended up with a collection of tracks that I thought sat quite nicely together.

The Veil can be considered a sister-album of sorts to Aphelion, which explores similar territory despite having utilised a rather different workflow. Whereas Aphelion is more sketch/fragment-like in its approach, recording The Veil was a much more free-form, organic experience.
